The Toyota Avalon is a full-size sedan that Toyota introduced in early 1994. It was Toyota’s largest front-wheel drive sedan and its flagship in the US and Canada. One of the reasons was to shift focus toward SUVs and EVs, with the Toyota Crown crossover taking its place.
The Avalon’s final release for the US market, the 2022 Toyota Avalon, was offered in four trim levels. These included the XLE, Limited, XSE Nightshade, and Touring. Two engine options were available. The gas-powered Avalon featured a powerful 301-hp, 3.5-liter V6 engine while the hybrid version came with a 215-hp hybrid I4 engine and electric motor. Although the hybrid Avalon came with a more modest powertrain, it was able to extend gas mileage by over 60 percent. The priciest trim was the Touring package, available only as a non-hybrid model.
